It is Monday Already!

Hello everyone, hope your week was a good one.  Last week for me was tough weather-wise.  Being this is Arkansas, we get a bit of snow and ice and the ENTIRE state seems to shut down.  I was not able to work on Monday and Tuesday, my son did not have school from Monday to Wednesday.  There is another front coming in and everybody was rushing to cancel school!  My daughter, whose college never cancels, canceled classes!  My son whose school always cancels if it gets too windy (or so it seems), has school!  Not sure if the weather will be good enough for me to go to work in the morning, but we will see when time comes.  I know I shouldn't complain, I really feel bad for the people in Boston who have had 9 FEET of snow in the last 3 weeks.  9 FEET!  God bless them!

So why not brush off the weather and think about beadwork!  LOL.  I was like many people sitting here at home watching the Oscars and drooling over the jewelry!  I let my daughter drool over the fashion, All I wanted to see was the jewelry, hahaha.  While watching the dance scenes and the acceptance speeches I made my inchie for this week.  Over at Every Inchie Monday the theme this week is snail.  I decided to make a cartoonie kind of inchie.  I love the colors I used.  I used 5 colors, although the "shell" part uses 2 colors but they are very hard to tell apart.  In my mind they were much more defined.  But I do like my little snail.  What do you think?

I really love the colors I used, the peachy background is opaque, so is the black used on the eye, the other 3 colors are matte, and the one that is the body of the snail has a bit of a shimmer on it, which I thought was perfect for it since snails are a bit shiny.  I really wish the 2 colors of the shell came out better but I still love it.

Also this week I reconnected via Facebook with 2 nieces that I have not talked to in over 20 years.  That was so awesome!  Really made my week.  Just had to share that!  LOL

Don't forget to fly on over to EIM and check out the great artwork over there.  Also, I want to thank all of you who read my blog and those who leave comments it makes my day.  Have a blessed, safe and warm week!

Text Me!

I would like to say thank you to everyone who takes the time to fly by my nest and check out my blog!  I love that you dropped by.  Also, for those of you who are dealing with all the snow, you are in my thoughts.

This week over at Every Inchie Monday the theme is Texts.  This one was a bit hard for me as I have a bit of trouble writing text on my inchies.  But, then I remembered that in the past I made 2 different inchies that were emoticons.  Emoticons are used all the time online and on the phone.  They have become so popular that we now have emoticons in our jewelry, on our clothes, and on our nails!  So why not in an inchie!

Here is this weeks inchie, it is technically called "tongue".  This is one I use often on Facebook, lol :p  For this inchie I used 2 colors a silver lined red and one of my most used colors opaque black.  Here are the past inchies that I have made using emoticons.

This one is from 2012 entitled Smile.

This one is from 2013 entitled Happiness.

Also this week I was nominated by a friend on Facebook for #artchain.  Where someone nominates you and for 5 days you show off your art of choice and each day you nominate another artist to do the same.   This week also a new friend on Facebook called me the Inchie Ninja!  I just LOVE that name.  LOL  Gives me so many ideas!  ;)

Thanks again for stopping by, and don't forget to fly on over to EIM and check out all the other cool texts that the other Inchie Ninjas think up!

In the Inchie of the Night.

Hiya everyone!  I hope that you all have had a great week. The weather here has been awesome the last few days.  I have been trying hard to get over a cold, but I have had the energy to finish a surprise gift for a supervisor and his fiance.  Which makes me really happy!  I really love this project!  It took a bit longer to make then I wanted it to, mostly cuz I had a few other things that had to take precedence.

This ornament has 3 different stitches in it, herringbone, peyote and branch fringe.  Used 9 colors of Delicas, and 4 colors of seed beads!  I started to design this using a wine cork but the size that I needed was going to need a 1 3/4 inch length of a 1 inch dowel.  I am glad I used the dowel, I don't think condensing the design would have looked as good as it does.

This is a montage of the body of the ornament before i added the rest to it.  (Note to self: I must remember to take pictures before I zip them shut!) The reason that I am showing you this is because you can't see it clearly on the finished product.

Here it is showing off the branch fringe and you can see the herringbone strap at the top.  This was my first time doing the branch fringe and I really like it.  Something else that you cant see from this picture is that the branch fringe has alternating pink seed beads on the bottom to match the 3 different colors of pink flowers on the body of the ornament.  I can't wait to give it to Paige.  They are such a sweet couple.

This week over at Every Inchie Monday the theme is Night.  My first thought was something that my son commented on.  Military time.  He loves to talk in military time.  Instead of it being 8.25PM it is 20.25 .  So it made me think about 24 hours a day.... or night!  I also took a picture of the pattern that I use when I make my inchies.  I always print off a copy of the pattern so that I can mark off what I get done.

And here is the Inchie close up.  I used 2 colors of Delicas, a teal (again!) and a rainbow crystal.

Don't forget to fly on over to EIM and check out the great night inchies from all of the other awesome artists.  Until next week, have a blessed and creative week!

It's Kitchen Time

This week over at Every Inchie Monday the theme is Kitchen.  I like kitchens, food comes from them!  I am not however, a big time-spender in the kitchen.  I do on occasion cook in there but not very often.  Funny how when my kids were little I cooked all the time, and now that they are older I don't cook very often.

I do love kitchen gadgets though.  I really get excited to go somewhere and look at the kitchen section.  Mostly to look.  Sometimes I buy cool things, like spoons, spatulas and knifes.  So for this weeks design I decided to make spatulas.  Mostly cuz I could not think of anything else to design.  I did rack my brain for anything to make but nothing came to mind.

Then I went to Burlington Coat Factory and bought some slotted spoons and I hate to say it, I love them!  They are strong and work great.  One even has a squared off edge for scraping the edges of pans! I told you, I love the gadgets, lol.

So here is my gadgetty kitchen inchie.  I used 2 colors of Delicas.  A black and a metalic teal that I really love.  I put 2 flippers, or spatulas on my inchie on alternating ends.   Hope you like it.

Don't forget to fly on over to EIM and check out the great kitchen's that the artists will come up with and have a blessed and creative week.
